Countryside in Puglia is spangled with medieval towers, currently abandoned. D’Aconto tower restoration is thought as a renewal to generate living function.
The rising of two floors over the existing ruin generate an existenzminimum house between stone walls. Inside the nucleus a wood box shows its independence never touching the structure; the roof is a concrete shell, a sort of stopper to avoid any “swinging” problems, with a central oculus that allows the continuous passage of the solar light; the external free-standing stair is in white concrete.
